Sparky and Coach, V=I/R.
Updated: Jul 29, 2022
As you know now from this week's themed articles "Sparky and Coach" I have always been interested in becoming an electrician, as well as in understanding the common denominators between coaching and electrician mastery.
Day 6: After a few days of being "off" grid* (thanks to Eunice), I was ready to learn about Building Regs. Which turned out to be Ohms Law, which turned out to be much more fun, as triangles are my new best friend.
"the strength of a direct current is directly proportional to the potential difference and inversely proportional to the resistance of the circuit" - merriam-webster
So my learnings...
FIVE LIVE CONNECTIONS
Understand the WHY. When it comes to teaching 'the what', you need to understand 'the why', Same goes for if you want to talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk. Before you commence your agile journey, understand the values and principles of why. Understand the toughest bit, it's a mindset, not a methodology.
More than one way to SKIN a Banana. When it comes to working out your current, voltage, resistance there are many ways, so if you're better on paper, perfect. Have an open mind to your teams, your colleagues, your spouse, partner, family and friends when it comes to doing things from a different perspective.
Keep it SIMPLE. Nothing new here. The mathematical triangle from my GCSE days is with me today, 20+ years on. Remember the simple life, don't overcomplicate explanations, sprint goals, retrospectives, grooming, pointing (weighting).
ONLINE vs Workshop. We moved to online learning, as the practical side took a seat. Online is fundamentally different to workshops. Firstly it's not physical. Make sure if you're running a meeting, facilitating a workshop, supporting others online, you remember the dimension and you adapt your delivery.
Self-CARE. After 6 days of learning, I am exhausted. Remember, learning new things is exciting, and loving your job is rewarding, but don't forget that it can just hit you. Another day another decision. Take care of your brain, your body and your soul. Prioritise at least one thing that you enjoy every week. #healthoverwealth
*WARNING: Puns will be present throughout the article. If that's not your thing, take a trip.
